Former Microsoft, BMC Software, and Citrix Executive to Spearhead Expansion of Product Line As Mimosa Supports Unified Communications with Live Content Archiving

Mimosa Systems™, a leader in Live Content Archiving solutions, today announced the appointment of Bob Kruger as senior vice president of engineering. Kruger will be responsible for managing Mimosa’s distributed engineering organization and delivering products that will drive the company’s vision as the premier provider of content archiving solutions. In support of new solutions targeting unified communications, Kruger will also drive development of next-generation products that provide fingertip access to enterprise-wide unstructured information, as well as the protection of that information.

Since its inception, Mimosa Systems has demonstrated technology excellence with email archiving products that address critical business challenges. In 2005, Mimosa revolutionized email archiving with the innovative and unique architecture of Mimosa™ NearPoint™, based on transaction log shipping rather than journaling to allow for comprehensive and seamless content and metadata collection. Then in 2007, Mimosa again raised the bar by bringing grid computing to Microsoft® Exchange email archiving environments, allowing for virtually unlimited scalability across the largest of enterprise environments. Most recently, Mimosa was positioned in the Visionaries Quadrant of the Gartner, Inc. “Magic Quadrant for E-Mail Active Archiving, 2007” report. These and other success milestones are the result of Mimosa leading through innovation, using archiving as the core enabler of the Mimosa unstructured information platform. In the course of just a few years, Mimosa has delivered the industry’s strongest archiving-based platform, along with best-in-class applications such as eDiscovery, end-user secure search, and disaster recovery.

“Mimosa Systems is focused on delivering solutions that transform how enterprises access, manage, and discover distributed content across their networks, servers, and desktops,” said T.M. Ravi, president and CEO of Mimosa Systems. “We are pleased to have Bob Kruger, a world-class talent, to expand our vision and lead our effort to build a broad portfolio of solutions for the market.”

An industry veteran, Kruger has played key roles in the creation and delivery of strategies and solutions at industry market movers including Microsoft, BMC Software, and Citrix. During his ten years at Microsoft, Kruger held a variety of positions, including GM of systems management products. While at Microsoft, Kruger collaborated with Bill Gates on his second book, Business@ the Speed of Thought. After Microsoft, he held both vice president of engineering and GM positions at the enterprise management giant BMC Software, and was responsible for enhancing the company’s competitive advantage by strengthening BMC Patrol and BMC’s Windows NT solutions. Kruger was CTO and senior vice president of product engineering for Citrix, evolving Citrix into a multi-product company and pulling together an innovative, distributed, global engineering organization.

“Unified communications will transform the way businesses work, and Mimosa NearPoint is architected to embrace and extend Microsoft’s unified communications technologies and roadmap,” said Bob Kruger, senior vice president of engineering for Mimosa Systems. “We will continue to extend our leadership in this area by supporting new content types and new business applications that access the archiving platform, and by continuing to enhance our grid architecture for extreme scalability.”

Key to achieving its goal as the leading content archiving provider for unified communications, Mimosa Systems is among a select group of Microsoft partners to earn Gold Certification, and its products are the industry’s most tightly integrated with Microsoft Exchange and Outlook®. The company is recognized for its expertise in Exchange, Active Directory®, Outlook, and Live Communication Server (LCS) with certifications across these products, and its product roadmap is closely aligned with Microsoft’s Unified Communications solutions.

“We are pleased to see Bob Kruger’s appointment as senior vice president of engineering at Mimosa Systems,” said Sanjay Parthasarathy, corporate vice president, Microsoft. “As a recognized proponent of Microsoft technologies, his addition to the Mimosa executive team will strengthen the relationship between the two companies as we partner to deliver solutions that benefit our mutual customers.”

Leading industry analysts predict enormous growth in email archiving as organizations seek greater information immediacy, discovery, and business continuity of their email repositories. Radicati Group estimates the email archiving market, which was $796 million by year-end 2006, will grow to $7.8 billion by 2010, illustrating the significantly escalating demand for products in this space.
