XStream Systems, Inc. announced it has signed a distributor agreement with Blue Ridge X-Ray Company of Asheville, North Carolina. The partnership enables Blue Ridge X-Ray to sell the XT250TM System, a unit able to identify counterfeit drugs in the pharmaceutical supply chain.

When speaking of counterfeit medicines, the World Health Organization’s Anti-Counterfeiting Taskforce has stated “Technologies are particularly important for product authentication.” The XT250 System is based on EDXRD (Energy Dispersive X-Ray Diffraction), and can authenticate a drug while still in its sealed container. The unit is the first of its kind.

Blue Ridge X-Ray’s experience is in the distribution of digital imaging solutions, new and refurbished imaging systems, x-ray film, chemistry, contrast and accessories. The addition of EDXRD technology to Blue Ridge’s equipment line puts the company at the forefront of new and innovative offerings to protect the public from counterfeit pharmaceuticals.
