The Novel Tells About Life in the Former Soviet Union

(PRLEAP.COM) The novel of Henry Landa tells about life, work, friendship, and love in former Soviet Union. It permits better understanding of living in that country and mysteries and miracles of human relations and behavior. Can be ordered as a paperback book, 339 p. through www.lulu.com (search Bontash) or downloaded.

The author of the novel, Henry Landa, shows in his book "Emil Bontash - The Soviet Chronicle" the life in that weird and freaky country. The time is the second part of the twentieth century.

The novel consists of two parts. The first part, entitled "The Diary of the Careless Youth", covers the years 1947 - 1954 and includes seven notebooks written by the main character, Emil Bontash. When the reader is first introduced to Emil, he is a schoolboy. The novel follows Emil as he enters Polytechnic University and afterwards begins his career as a mechanical engineer. Emil tries to exist within the Soviet society while living in a manner that is consistent with his idealistic principles and beliefs. Often this commitment to his ideals requires him to swim against the current, overcoming the senselessness, mercenaries, and hypocrisy that surround him in that bizarre Soviet world. Not surprisingly, Emil’s experiences lead to a devastating crush in his love life, too.

The second part, entitled "The Glance from the Height", covers the years 1954 - 1989. This part further explores Emil’s experiences. Its chapters combine a description of Emil’s life and work and separate stories reflecting the surrounding realities. They permit a better understanding of the problems associated with living in the Soviet Union and the mysteries and miracles of human relations and behavior.

So, all the events of his life led Emil to the decision to emigrate from that country.

"Emil Bontash - the Soviet Chronicle" contains 339 pages. It can be ordered through print-on-demand publisher "Lulu." (Visit http://www.lulu.com and search for "Bontash"). It is available as a paperback book or can be downloaded directly to your computer in pdf format (3572 KB).
