Alpha Software Provides Software for Foxconn Motherboards

June 22, 2005 (PRLEAP.COM) Technology News
BURLINGTON, Mass.—Alpha Software Inc., the database software company that enables customers to build breakthrough web and desktop applications and solve database management problems rapidly and easily, has announced that Foxconn (registered trade name of Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd.), one of the world’s largest manufacturers of computer motherboards, will provide a trial version of Alpha Five version 6 Software on the CDs it ships with its Foxconn and WinFast branded motherboards to computer component distributors and system integrators worldwide.

Alpha Five version 6 is a relational database application that lets both programmers and non-programmers create sophisticated desktop database applications without the need to write any code. Action Scripting and hundreds of genies do all the work. The software’s point and click Web Component Builder makes it possible for anyone to quickly create a web database. Alpha Five includes its own Web Application Server and is also designed to work with the Apache web application server for load balancing in high transaction environments.

“This is a great opportunity for millions of computer users to test Alpha Five version 6 for free,” said Richard Rabins, Alpha Software co-chairman. “We’re very excited to have our software ship through one of the top motherboard manufacturers in the world.”

Foxconn’s driver and application software CDs currently contain software from companies such as Corel Corporation and Symantec Corporation. Alpha Software is providing Foxconn with a new, 120 day trial version of Alpha Five version 6.

“Foxconn continues to pursue different ways to improve the PC experience for our customers,” said, Ed Leckliter, Foxconn’s Director of Channel Products. “With Alpha Five our customers have the ability to create sophisticated databases without a programming background. It’s the perfect addition to our motherboard offering.”

This announcement comes on the heels of fantastic reviews of Alpha Five version 6. In March, PC Magazine awarded Alpha Five its coveted Editors Choice Award. PC User Magazine selected Alpha Five version 6 as the winner in their annual Best Database Software category, beating out both FileMaker 7 and the current version of MS Access. Last December, in a PC Today Magazine shootout against MS Access, Alpha Five received the highest score and was cited for its ability to create web solutions along with ease of use and the ability to build applications in about a quarter of the time as compared to MS Access.
