OPENING NIGHT SHOW: "A Marriage of Art"
(PRLEAP.COM) It’s like Bogey & Bacall! The perfect match, in the perfect place, at the perfect time - right before the holidays.
In the upcoming December two-person show at Ed Chasen Fine Art in historic Georgetown, another perfect couple, Carl & Jody Wright of Martinsburg, WV and Washington Sculpture Group Member, combine their partnership in life of 28 years with their partnership in art (stone sculpture and original paintings on canvas).
Carl’s visual sensation features Alabaster, Marble and Limestone Abstract Stone Sculpture which is the perfect combination with Jody Wright’s wide range of Original Canvases. It is a case of opposites attracting – the dirt and noise of stone sculpture meets the dappling of color on to a canvas. Their work can be seen at http:www.wsggallery.com.
Carl Wright’s abstract stone sculpture is hand carved and lovingly finished with waxes and a variety of other finishes to bring out the subtle beauty of the stone. The color of the stone Carl uses is varied depending on the type. Limestone is a dove gray. Marble can be white or sky blue. Alabaster can be translucent white, green with brown striations, strawberry and cream colored to name a few.
Carl carves stone sculptures for both interiors and exteriors. He has been in several juried museum shows and gallery shows. His work is in residences from Maryland to California to Zug, Switzerland. One of his sculptures is also in a pharmaceutical headquarters in Durham, NC. Carl will also be taking two larger sculptures , one 400 lbs and one 600 lbs, to Algonquin, IL for an Outdoor Public Art Program that runs from Nov.1, 2007 to Nov. 1, 2008.
And if you thought Jody Wright only painted companion animals, this show will be a real treat. You’ll get to see everything from Einstein and Dancers to Abstracts (and of course companion animals). Jody also has painted murals in residences in Martinsburg, WV and an animal shelter in Charles Town, WV. Her work is collected nationwide and also in Australia.
So put this date on your calendar before the holidays fill it up. SATURDAY, December 15th. It’s a great way to get that perfect WOW! present that will create joy for a lifetime. The show runs December 15th, 2007 through January 1st, 2008.
