Opera Cabal presents "Delusions: Chicago (2007)" at the Zhou B. Art Center
(
PRLEAP.COM) Opera Cabal presents “Delusions: Chicago (2007),” a festival of new everything at the Zhou B. Art Center. Chicago’s hottest young musicians, dancers, actors & artists bond together in a collision course determined to bring to the stage the avant-est in avant-garde performance.
“Delusions” orbits around Ursularia, a chamber opera with intrusive thoughts of being trapped in the wrong genre. Featuring dal niente new music ensemble the opera charts the unlikely account of eleven thousand virgins on a sacred journey of death. Other Chicago companies to appear on the four-day “Delusions” program include Sonic Inertia Performance Group (dance & live musicians), the free improv jazz duo Asylum, Third Coast Percussion Quartet, toy-pianist & video artist Phyllis Chen & Robert Dietz, as well as a joint program featuring live painting & new music by the Zhou Brothers and ICE, sponsored by the Chicago Composers Forum. The Zhou’s third floor artists open their studios to the public for their “Third Fridays” art walk. Also on the menu: an installation by New York painter Brett Baker, and Madison’s Nonsense Theater Co.
