SCHAUMBURG (June 2005)—Back by popular demand, Shaw’s Crab House, 1900 E. Higgins Rd., is bringing a traditional East Coast summer’s end celebration to Schaumburg, IL. Shaw’s invites guests to delight in its 2nd Annual Outdoor Clambake scheduled for
Friday, August 19, beginning at 6 p.m. Featuring live entertainment and a feast fit for kings and queens, this end-of-summer fête is created for guests of all ages!

A tradition, which started more than 4,000 years ago with the indigenous Americans, the clambake was merely a way to feed a large number of people at one time using the land and nourishment around them. Now an end of summer event adored by the young and old, the clambake has become a tradition celebrated from Maine to Florida.

Signifying the final summer “hoorah,” clambakes typically include a tremendous amount of food steamed underground on a beachfront fire. Revelers dine, drink, dance and croon until the wee hours of the morn.

The Shaw’s Crab House clambake, which begins at 6 p.m., will include live entertainment featuring The Fabulous Fish Heads. To be held outside the restaurant, guests will enjoy a prix-fixe menu featuring a one-pound Maine Lobster, clams, mussels, red potatoes, corn on the cob and succulent key lime pie. The evening is priced at $36.95 per adult, plus tax and gratuity, which includes the meal along with three Goose Island 312 beers. NOTE: In the case of inclement weather, the event will be held inside the restaurant.

Reminiscent of a New England seafood house with an Art Deco flare, Shaw’s Crab House is one of Lettuce Entertain You’s largest restaurants. The Main Dining Room seats 187 people; and the Red Shell Lounge seats 350 people. Also featured is a Boardroom and Private Party Facility, which offers accommodations for up to 120 people. The Red Shell Lounge serves up the same tasty food Shaw’s Crab House is famous for in a family-friendly atmosphere.
