Stock Market Investor Competition Launches First Public Contest

OREM, Utah — October 5, 2007 — Wall Street Idol, an investor community website boasting a powerful market simulation, is inviting novice and experienced investors to compete for cash prizes in the site’s first public contest.

Wall Street Idol will award $500 to the user whose portfolio earns the highest return over a 90-day period, with $300 and $200 awards given to the second and third place portfolios, respectively. The contest maintains an open start date and runs until December 31st, when a new 90-day public contest will begin. Visitors to the site can create a portfolio, pick stocks and begin competing within minutes.

“We hope investors of every experience level will take advantage of this quality stock market simulation,” says Bob Haupt, Founder of Wall Street Idol. “If you’re new to investing, this is a great place to practice — using fantasy funds — and if you’re a savvy investor, you can create a portfolio and compete for the real stuff.”

Haupt developed Wall Street Idol to find undiscovered investor talent and give stock market enthusiasts a community to share ideas, to compete with one another and to benefit from the stock picking prowess of others.

“Many investment firms spend lots of money to find talented traders,” Haupt says. “However, at Wall Street Idol, we’re confident that many talented investors are still undiscovered. This site provides a forum for finding and fostering this emerging talent — and we’ve developed a simulation that we feel is more accurate than traders will find anywhere else.”

Wall Street Idol utilizes a high-performance datafeed that reflects actual stock market price changes to the site 15-20 minutes after they occur. Wall Street Idol also adjusts portfolios for stock splits and dividends in order to achieve a more realistic approximation of true-to-market results.

Unlike other market simulations, Wall Street Idol allows users to create private fantasy trading contests for groups such as co-workers, family, friends, etc., and to maintain up to 10 portfolios at one time.

“It really is a great site with a great design and simulation,” Haupt says. “It will be fun to watch and see who rises to the top, to be worthy of being called a ‘Wall Street Idol.’”
