Ron Higgins, president and CEO of the nationally acclaimed Savannah Movie Tours, is pleased to announce the company’s latest and tastiest tour experience, the Savannah Foody Tour. Patrons will not only learn about the South’s rich culinary history, they will visit nine of Savannah’s most delicious eateries and sample the dishes that have made these restaurants world famous.

The tour begins on a climate-controlled, luxury tour bus equipped with state-of-the art LCD screens. As guests make their way through the historic neighborhoods en route to the eating establishments, they view TV clips and photos that spotlight Savannah’s culinary traditions and institutions. Some of the stops along the way include Back in the Day Bakery, Leopold’s Ice Cream, the New South Café and The Lady and Sons. To top off the Savannah Foody Tour experience, patrons sample some of the city’s most delectable fare, from shrimp and grits and fried green tomatoes to gourmet chocolate truffles and homemade ice cream.

“Tourists come to Savannah, take a tour, then pound the pavement looking for a place to eat. Why not do both at the same time?” says Higgins. “The Savannah Foody Tour is a great way for tourists to see the city, learn why Savannah is an international haven for foodys and enjoy good eats from several different restaurants.”

Higgins recommends that visitors take the Foody tour as soon as they arrive in Savannah because it will give them great ideas for the rest of their trip. “The Savannah Foody Tour allows tourists to better plan their culinary itinerary,” he says.

Higgins, a filmmaker and Savannah native, established Savannah Movie Tours in 2003. The tour has been featured in publications including The Hollywood Reporter, The Dallas Morning News, The Miami Herald and the Atlanta-Journal Constitution.

The Foody Tour departs daily at 11 a.m. from the Savannah Visitor Information Center at 301 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Tickets are $45 per person and include the tour, all food, an embroidered Savannah Foody Tour hat and a bag of goodies. For more information, call 912-234-3440 or visit www.savannahmovietours.com.
