Raleigh Professional Women’s Forum Presents Pages To Podium

(PRLEAP.COM) RALEIGH, N.C. – The Raleigh Professional Women’s Forum (RPWF), an organization of diverse professional and executive women, has announced that Pages to Podium, a biannual author’s series, will feature forensic anthropologist and author Kathy Reichs, Ph.D., as the 2008 speaker at the Thursday, April 24 luncheon at Brier Creek Country Club in Raleigh.

Dr. Reichs is a forensic anthropologist for the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, State of North Carolina, and for the Laboratoire des Sciences Judiciaires et de Médecine Légale for the province of Quebec. She is one of only 50 forensic anthropologists certified by the American Board of Forensic Anthropology and is on the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences. A professor of anthropology at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Dr. Reichs is a native of Chicago, where she received her Ph.D. at Northwestern.

Dr. Reichs is the author of the best-selling Temperance Brennan series, based on her experiences as a forensic anthropologist, which includes Déjà Dead, Death du Jour, Deadly Decisions, Fatal Voyage and Grave Secrets. Most recently her experiences as a forensic anthropologist have inspired the dramatic series Bones on the Fox television network. She is internationally recognized as a forensic anthropologist and has traveled to Rwanda to testify at the United Nations Tribunal on Genocide, helped identify individuals from mass graves in Guatemala, and done forensic work at Ground Zero in New York. She now divides her time between Charlotte and Montreal and is a frequent expert witness in criminal trials.

RPWF Pages to Podium is a biannual author’s series that brings a national speaker on the Triangle to present information on a topic of interest to the community. Past speakers include Judy Woodruff, national television correspondent; Kate White, then-editor of Redbook Magazine; Dr. Mary Pipher, nationally known psychologist and best-selling author of Reviving Ophelia and other books; Christine Brennan, sports columnist and author; and Susan L. Taylor, editor of Essence magazine.
