New Survey Shows Wholesale Travel Website Users Think Airfares are Fair


(PRLEAP.COM) October 15, 2007 (New York, NY) – Lessno.com, a website bringing wholesale airfares to the retail consumer, today released the results of a new survey on fairness. The survey was posted on the Lessno.com website and was conducted during the month of September. This was the first in a series of surveys designed by Lessno.com to collect information on traveler experience and perception in order to serve them better.

According the survey, 60 percent of travelers that use wholesale airfare websites like Lessno.com think international airfares are somewhat fair or fair. Similarly, 63.4 think domestic airfares are somewhat fair or fair.

Wholesale websites work with wholesale airline ticket sellers, or airline consolidators. The wholesalers have contracts with various airlines for volume discounts on particular routes. However, they rely on online agencies for distribution. Using advanced technology, companies like Lessno.com contract with the wholesalers to give the general public access to this cheap fares. Other discount travel websites get their pricing from direct relationships with airlines as many of them were originally formed by the airlines.

“It is reassuring to see that travelers who use wholesale travel websites like ours understand the value they’re getting,” said Assen Vassilev, president of Lessno.com. “The wholesale travel business will grow significantly in the next few years as people become savvier on how to get the fairest fairs on the web.”

The survey also asked travelers to compare international and domestic airfares with other regular purchases. Again, the wholesale website users consider both domestic and international airfare at the top of the fairness list.

Twenty percent of participants found international airfare to be “very fair” while 18.3 percent said domestic airfare is “very fair.” Comparatively, only 11.7 percent said their monthly cable/satellite subscription is “very fair,” 10 percent categorized their monthly mobile phone fees as such, 13.3 percent said tickets to concerts and sporting events are, and 15 percent said movie tickets are.
