THE WEATHER CHANNEL INTERACTIVE LAUNCHES WEB APPLICATION FOR IPHONE AND IPOD TOUCH

ATLANTA – The Weather Channel® Interactive (TWCI) today announced the launch of a completely optimized weather application for the iPhone and iPod touch. The new application requires no download and leverages Apple's innovative touch screen technology to deliver current conditions, hourly and 10-day forecasts, and maps in a fully interactive environment where functionality like sliding pages and “fade ins” make the user experience fun and unique. The application is available to iPhone and iPod touch users via Safari browser at www.weather.com/iphone, and, along with 200 other leading solutions, can also be accessed via Apple's new Web Application site at http://www.apple.com/webapps/

The new application was developed by The Weather Channel Mobile and introduces enhanced, interactive radar and satellite maps for the first time in a mobile environment. The maps feature various surface views and allow the user to control cloud and radar layers and animation.



Other features of The Weather Channel web application include severe weather alerts and the ability to save up to five favorite locations. For users seeking more content, there is a link to The Weather Channel Mobile Web, which will deliver additional weather related information including traffic and airport delays.
