Southland Outfitters: Families in Camo

Earlier this year, CorFun market research identified substantial opportunity in the outdoor and vintage clothing markets.

“We saw the trends and decided it was a good move for us,” said Olan Chancy, CEO of CorFun. “Good supply at reasonable prices, and it’s a market we love. Most of our company hails from the South, and we grew up outdoors!”

The initial plan was to launch a hard-core outdoorsman site. Test marketing of several names and concepts commenced to find the perfect mix of branding, product, and pricing.

Almost immediately, interesting results began to come back. “We’d been targeting outdoorsman-types, especially hunters. But…” said Henry Bentley, COO and main merchandiser, “That wasn’t were the market surveys were pointing. We scratched our heads over this, but after extensive research the results were very clear – the big market for camo clothing, vintage outfits, self-defense equipment, and even GPS devices was actually women.”

Olan Chancy elaborated, “This may seem counter-intuitive, but women seem to really enjoy the outdoor look. Not only for themselves, but also for their children and their husbands. We have been getting way more demand for camo onsies for babies than for almost any other item!”

From these insights Southland Outfitters (www.southlandoutfitters.com) was born. Southland caters to the families which love the outdoors and the outdoor look. It is a family-friendly shopping environment with great prices and a large line of merchandise of family camo clothing, vintage clothing, outdoor gear, and even camo onsies!

But, we haven’t forgotten the men in our preparation work. We still have holsters, gun accessories, stun guns, and military insignia along with a selection of Winter coats and vintage shirts.

Southland Outfitters – truly something for every outdoors enthusiast!
