Karma Yoga Journeys Travels to the Caribbean

October 19, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Travel News
Karma Yoga Journeys, the American-based leader in yoga and volunteer vacations, today announced the launching of its trip to the Caribbean island, Dominica beginning January 5, 2008. A group of yoga aficionados will be first to combine humanitarianism, tourism, and yoga practice in the heart of the struggling island community. Participants spend two weeks working with the local Carib Indian population, helping village children, and exploring Dominica’s scenic and cultural hot spots.

Karma Yoga Journeys will donate a portion of its proceeds to help the native population in Dominica.

This is the group’s first trip to Dominica, but not the first journey overall. This past summer, the founders of Karma Yoga Journeys guided participants around the ruins of Machu Picchu and helped a local orphanage on a successful vacation to Peru.

“A day after I had played chess with one of the orphanage boys, he told the orphanage psychologist that it had been the happiest time in his life,” said Victor Oppenheimer, president of Yoga.com. “It was unbelievably rewarding to make such a large, positive impact on the lives of these special children. This feeling alone is enough to justify people joining these trips.”
