This new book by author Marci Cresting is perfect for preteen girls experiencing the boredom of the school year. Kate Greeter: Band Camper Extraordinaire is about a 13-year old girl who just finished 8th grade. Her mother, who is to go on a business trip in Spain, sends her to band camp. To her chagrin, she’ll miss all that she’s looking forward to for the summer, but unexpectedly finds herself preoccupied with something else a camp.

Marci Cresting was sitting back at home, bored. So what does she do? She lets her imagination wonder and writes a book. A good one at that. Kate Greeter: Band Camper Extraordinaire tells the story of 13 year old Kate Greeter.

Kate, unlike Marci, is looking forward to her summer. After all, she was going to spend it with her friends. Unfortunately, her plans get flipped upside down when her mom announces that she’s going to be going to band camp. This great read is perfect for preteen and teenage girls.

Marci Cresting, surprisingly, is a teenager herself. Well, she would be, wouldn’t she? After all, how else would she be able to so accurately understand the teenage mind. Her perceptive puts her in a great position to develop the character’s thoughts and actions.

Preteen and teenage readers will sympathize with Kate as she goes through all her troubles and awkward moments.
This book is truly phenomenal. There’s no better way to entertain than with this book. Marci Cresting did a great job with this project and let’s all hope that she will continue writing and engrossing the world with her wonderful words.
