The Narcissism Epidemic: Breaking the Destructive Bonds

October 18, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Health News
Kaleah LaRoche, author of the E-book “Spiritual Recovery from Narcissistic Abuse” will be speaking on the topic of narcissistic personality disorder and the destructive wake it leaves on Saturday, October 20th at 7pm EST on Advanced Living Radio. This will be a live call-in program inviting those with questions or concerns about a narcissistic relationship to participate.

According to Kaleah, narcissism is running rampant among us affecting thousands of unsuspecting victims who are left wondering what just happened. Victims frequently suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome, Depression, Suicidal Tendencies, Physical Illness, Mental Illness and Chronic Apathy, to name a few.

Relationships with narcissists usually begin as a heady love affair leading a victim to believe she has found the love of her life, the man of her dreams, or with a male victim, the woman he has been waiting for. Typically after about three months the story changes and the relationship rapidly begins to deteriorate into one of confusion, pain, self doubt, and a myriad of mixed emotions that leave the victim feeling drained and depleted of energy.

Leaving a narcissistic relationship can be very difficult as the victim will often believe he or she is at fault due to a complex form of manipulation that shakes loose the deepest seated insecurities leaving the victim doubting oneself and his/her sanity. Rather than leaving the narcissist, the victim will often cling more tightly in attempt to grasp onto some form of stability.

“Victims of narcissistic abuse are led to believe the problems within the relationship are their fault” says Kaleah. “The manipulation by the narcissist can be so subtle and undetectable that victims don't realize what is happening, until it is too late!”

The damage caused to victims of narcissistic abuse is severe and believed by many to be irreversible. However Kaleah, a survivor of two narcissistic relationships believes one can not only survive beyond the abuse but thrive and become stronger and more confident in oneself than ever.

Kaleah has dedicated herself to bringing awareness about narcissistic abuse to the public and offers a way out that takes an individual from being a victim to being free and empowered.
