The website has been created expressly to promote exposure and sales of independent films, for both filmmakers and film enthusiasts. It is a place where producers, directors and actors can get their films seen and sold directly to the public. Films can be viewed on a PC, Mac AppleTv, iPod, iPhone, as well as other devices.

WAMclips offers a non-exclusive license for their service and allows filmmakers to keep the rights to their projects. Profits from downloads are split, from the first dollar to the last. Sales prices range from $1.49 for up to fifteen minutes, to $7.95 for an hour. Membership fees to join WAMclips are free. (For exact percentage information, please log on to the website.)

Comments founder Laurence Barbera, “Anyone in the film business knows how hard it is to get distribution and exposure for an independent film or short. There are hundreds of these films being made every year that get no distribution at all. We are out to change the world of distribution and get these movies seen.”

The website offers a wide variety of genres for downloads– action, drama, sci-fi, romance, horror, comedy, documentary, classic, westerns, music videos, avant-garde, film festival favorites, film schools and special interests. Coming soon are exclusives and specials.

Also included on the site are Current Reviews, and viewers are encouraged to give direct feedback to the creators in the Viewer Comment section.

Co-founder Alex Gladkov noted, “Growing up in St. Petersburg, Russia, I was drawn to the rich texture of epic Russian classic films. Our company now offers movies twenty-four hours a day in the comfort of your own home or while traveling, all for less than the price as a movie theater ticket.”

Some of the films already up on WAMclips.com include: the award winning feature “The Priests; the documentary “Into the Air,” about professional kite boarders; “Inferno-The Heat Behind Holy Hip Hop; and the underground medical music video “Bile:In League.”

Guidelines for registering a movie are: title, genre and running time, with a short one hundred word synopsis, production stills, art work and company information. Preview trailers can be no more than thirty seconds in Flash format. Currently the site only accepts NTSC in Quicktime’s MPEG-4 & .m4v formats, but plans are underway to the expand format to include PAL for foreign productions. Filmmakers can directly upload their films, or mail them into the company for inclusion, once the Upload Agreement has been filled out and registered with WAMclips. The company also maintains a hotline for technical support assistance.
