The British Hypertension Society (BHS) Validated Blood Pressure Monitor Now Available at First Aid warehouse

One of the most distinguishing features about any blood pressure monitor is whether or not it is BHS validated
There are many blood pressure monitors available in the market-place today and all come with a variety of recommended retail pricing. So how do you know which is the right one for you? It’s not easy. Some offer one-cuff-fits-all packages, others have memory facilities while some have a large display screen. Given the seemingly endless choice, how do you differentiate between say a £10 blood pressure monitor or one priced at £40 or more?

Perhaps one of the most distinguishing features about any blood pressure monitor is whether or not it is BHS validated. By this we don’t mean validated by the famous high street chain British Home Stores, but by the British Hypertension Society.

The BHS provides a medical and scientific research forum to enable the sharing of cutting-edge research in order to understand the origin of high blood pressure and improve its treatment. As their website states, “The British Hypertension Society has a track record of producing internationally renowned guidelines for the management of hypertension which are widely adopted in primary care in the UK and elsewhere.”

As part of their increasing engagement in improving blood pressure measurement, the British Hypertension Society is undertaking active validation of new blood pressure devices for the measurement of blood pressure.

The British Hypertension Society website carries a list of all the blood pressure monitors that have been issued with validation and at the First Aid Warehouse we only stock blood pressure monitors from manufacturers who have products validated by the BHS, the manufacturers being A&D, Microlife and Omron.

A list of the blood pressure monitors that carry BHS validation and that are listed on the official BHS web site, which are stocked by the First Aid Warehouse are as follows:
