Spectacle of Lights Will Dazzle Visitors for a Fifth Season at Heritage Museums & Gardens

Sandwich, Cape Cod, MA - 2007 Heritage Museums & Gardens Spectacle of Lights will open on the day after Thanksgiving, Friday, November 23 and end on Monday, December 31, (New Year's Eve) Friday through Sunday, from 5 - 9 pm. This is the fifth year that the 100 acre museum will host this wonderful holiday light extravaganza and the theme is trains.

Children's eyes will light up when they see a working model of the Lionel Holiday Tradition Express totally animated with a "Bell" car that plays your favorite holiday classics. The other working model is the Polar Express made famous by the recent movie and the Chris Van Allsburg popular book. Millions of twinkling lights, a Maze of Starts, a giant Poinsettia tree, animated all new light displays, a "Little Caboose Cafe" by The Casual Gourmet, the "Train Depot" gift shop, photo's with Santa, a free carousel ride and musical performances are all included in this dazzling event.

A Special Exhibit: Winterscapes A Standard Flower Show, December 7, 8 & 9, from 10 am - 4 pm is being presented by The Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts, Southeastern District Design & Horticluture Study Group. The show will feature exhibits in design, horticulture, artistic crafts and educational displays throughout the Art Museum and both levels of the Automobile Museum. The flower show complements Heritage's Spectacle of Lights.

Heritage will again host a special Spectacle of Lights program just for children who attend local after school programs and their families. Approximately two hundred and fifty people are expected to attend from three local organizations: the Boys and Girls Club of Cape Cod, YMCA of Capoe Cod and Cape Cod Child Development.

Spectacle of Lights is begin funded in part by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Department of Business and Technology/Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism Other sponsores include the Dan'l Webster Inn and Spa, and Rogers & Grey to name a few.

Directions: Heritage Museums & Gardens is located in Sandwich. Take Route 3 from Boston to the Sagamore Bridge. Take Exit 2 off the Mid-Cape Highway. Turn north onto Route 130 to Sandwich Village. Turn right onto Grove Street and drive one mile to the museum entrance. From the Bourne Bridge take Route 6A to Route 130 to Pine Street and the museum.
