Blue Cow in the Dumps-New Children's Book
(PRLEAP.COM) Kemblesville, Pa. October 25, 2007- Artist Karen O’Lone-Hahn has written and illustrated her first children’s book “Millicent and the Faraway Moon” and published it online at Lulu.com the online marketplace for digital content.
The inspiration for Millicent came from a negative incident that the author experienced growing up where she was basically told she would never amount to much. Throughout her life the author has struggled with these negative words and wrote the story of Millicent to encourage others to persevere through difficulty , to have faith and remember to laugh.
Millicent is a sad and lonely blue cow who suffers from low self esteem and feels left out from the crowd of other “special” cows who can jump over the moon. She is weighed down by their negative comments and doesn’t believe in herself until she gains a new friend, the fourth blind mouse, who offers her the encouragement to keep trying. Millicent struggles through several setbacks and a wide range of emotions in her journey to measure up before she reaches her triumphant success.
“Millicent and the Faraway Moon is definitely a book every parent should have for their child and for themselves. It is a wonderful way to teach children of all ages how to over come self doubts” says Margaret. Cummings, a teacher.
Ms. O’Lone-Hahn says ”Being a busy artist and Mom, I didn’t have time to spend searching for publishers. Lulu enabled me to paint the illustrations and design the pages to my liking and still keep the price affordable for a 40 page full color book. Thanks to Lulu I can now add “author” to my repertoire.”
