Everlife Memorials Provides Cremation Memorials Selected for Final Arrangement By Growing Number of People

(PRLEAP.COM) Corpus Christi, Texas - Everlife Memorials reports that according to the Cremation Association of North America cremation is increasing dramatically. Confirmed statistics show that of the 2.4 million people that died in the United States during 2001, only 26 percent were cremated. It is projected that by 2010 on average over 39 percent of those who die will be cremated, but many states will see over 65 percent will choose cremation over traditional burials for their final arrangements.

“Human cremation has been around for centuries and has been the norm for many countries,” said Joseph J. McCabe, president of Everlife Memorials, one of the leading Internet providers of funeral and cemetery memorial products. “Overcrowded cemeteries and expensive plots and funeral costs all take a part in the influence of using cremation.”

While ashes are kept in decorated urns, 68 percent of ashes are scattered over water (30%), land (20%) or at a spot the deceased requested (18%). “Scattering the ashes allows family members and friends to celebrate and honor the person in an environment that has meaning and good memories for them to share,” said McCabe.

The other 32 percent choose to have their ashes buried in urn burial vaults, or a family member, spouse or loved one has the ashes in a keepsake urn.

A new tradition is cremation jewelry that allows spouses, family members or other loved ones to have a small amount of ashes in a pendant they wear around their neck. “People feel a sense of the departed being close to their heart forever,” said McCabe.

Those who still choose a traditional funeral and burial, are honored through ornate headstones, grave markers, bronze memorials and garden statues said McCabe.
