Lee Kessler, Veteran Actress, Playwright and Author, has been honored to distinguished list of the Dazzling Daughters of the American Revolution
(PRLEAP.COM) Eureka, MT – July 14, 2008 — Lee Kessler has been nominated and granted admission by the Daughters of the American Revolution as a Dazzling Daughter of the American Revolution, a very honored and prestigious group of only 121 women in American history. The DAR will be displaying her works as an actress, playwright and author along with approximately half of the Dazzling Daughters.The DAR exhibit, titled Dazzling Daughters: The DAR and Women’s History in America, has opened with the commencement of the 117th Continental Congress in July 2008. The Director of Archives and History of the DAR, Tracy Robinson, invited Lee to exhibit in the American Room, which features over half of the Dazzling DAR members who, through diligent application of their unique talents and abilities, have made significant and positive contributions to American or international culture, society, or history.
The DAR has over 850,000 members. However, the Dazzling Daughters list names only 121 – a very exclusive list. Lee Kessler joins such honored and admitted Dazzling Daughters as:
• Jane Addams (1860-1935) progressive-era reformer, founded Hull House in Chicago, won Nobel Peace Prize (1931);
• Susan B. Anthony (1820-1906) suffragist, women’s rights advocate, founded National Women’s Suffrage Association (1869);
• Laura Welch Bush (b. 1947) first lady, 2001-2009, teacher and librarian
• Elizabeth Dole (b. 1936) Red Cross president, 1991-1999, US Senator, Secretary of Transportation, Secretary of Labor;
• Phyllis Schlafly (b. 1924) outspoken anti-feminist;
• Susan Kilrain (b. 1961) Commander, US Navy (Ret.), former NASA test pilot and astronaut;
• Nancy Davis Reagan (b. 1921) actress, first lady, 1981-1989;
• Eleanor Roosevelt Roosevelt (1884-1962) first lady, 1933-1945;
• Ginger Rogers (1911-1995) actress, dancer;
• Clara Barton (1821-1912) nurse, teacher, Red Cross founder;
• Barbara Pierce Bush (b. 1925) first lady, 1989-1993;
• Bo Derek (b. 1956) golden-globe nominated film actress, model;
• Grace Hopper (1906-1992) admiral, US Navy, author of COBOL computer language;
• Julia Ward Howe (1819-1910) author, women’s rights advocate, composer of Battle Hymn of the Republic.
About Lee Kessler
Lee Kessler is a television actress, author, playwright, and stage director. Her career in Hollywood and New York spans 30 years and includes dozens of guest starring roles in episodic TV, mini-series and movies-of-the-week. She had re-occurring roles in the series "Hill Street Blues" and "Matlock," and was submitted for Emmy nomination twice for her starring roles in the movie "Collision Course," and the ABC special, "Which Mother Is Mine?" She co-starred with Peter O’Toole in the movie "Creator." Her play, "Anais Nin-the Paris Years," was produced in New York and Los Angeles, with a subsequent tour on the West Coast.
