Throughout the course of the story, Jay goes through drastic changes. He struggles to keep the promise he made to his mother, even though in all likelihood he knows he won’t, and Jessie doesn’t believe she’s good enough to compete against Jay on the court and does a good job at hiding it.
The writer has crafted a screenplay that is attuned to the ways we can be weak without being bad people. It offers a pleasant double whammy of love and character. The characters are well developed and complicated, and with some much emotion layered in each scene, the reader will be hooked right up to the last shocking moment.
