York Fitness Sponsor Steve Thompson
(PRLEAP.COM) YORK will be sponsoring England’s World Cup-winning hooker Steve Thompson MBE in the London to Mont Blanc Cycle raising money for the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research.
The 28-year-old forward took a heavy blow during his last game for Northampton Saints on January 21, which ruled the 47-cap Thompson out of both the RBS 6 Nations and (after discovering he required surgery) England’s autumn defence of the World Cup.
Surgery stabilised the neck injury but unfortunately Steve was forced to retire in April 2007.
Cancer research is something close to Steve’s heart with his father-in-law fighting cancer for the third time. York, who work closely with Steve’s old club Northampton Saints, are proud to sponsor him in his 700 mile cycle from London to Mont Blanc over 8 days.
“We would like to wish him the best of luck both in the Mont Blanc cycle and in the future”
Phil Littlewood, York Fitness Product Director
