Why Google Loves Press Releases (Again)

If you’d like to see your brand “In the News”, featured above Google search results, then you’re going to love what I have to share with you today.

Here’s why: In March, a Google spokesperson told Reuters: “The goal of search is to get users the right answer at any one time as quickly as possible — that may mean returning an article from an established publisher or from a smaller niche publisher or indeed it might be a press release,” the Google spokeswoman said.

What does this mean for you? Because Google now features press releases “In the news section”, above search results, you have the opportunity to create helpful, valuable content for your customers and prospects.

What’s more, inclusion into “In the news” can lend an air of credibility to your press release while helping you position your business as a leader in the field. You might even ruffle a few feathers when your competition sees you company “In the news”. How jealous will that make them?

According to Glean.info, “Corporate press releases can now outrank media articles on the same topic due to a little-known change in Google’s algorithm”.

Obviously, the change they are referring to is Google “In the news.” You now have the power to be a brand publisher.
