West Hollywood’s famed Sunset Strip, home to many of the world’s favorite retail, food and nightlife destinations, has a new kid on the block. The Sunset, formally known as the Sunset Millennium project, is located just west of La Cienega Boulevard at 8560-8580 Sunset Boulevard. The project was acquired from Apollo Partners early in 2007 for approximately $100 million dollars and is currently owned and operated by Broadreach Capital Partners. Since acquisition the new owner has been planning and has recently began The Sunset’s repositioning within the Sunset Strip market. The project is getting a make-over - this fall, the complex will welcome a host of new retail and restaurant destinations, beginning with H&M’s new Los Angeles location and regional headquarters opening November 1 at 12:00pm.

“Given its location, The Sunset will become a premier one-stop destination in the heart of the Sunset Strip. Whether visitors are looking to shop, eat, socialize or hit the gym or spa – they can find all this and more at the complex,” said David Simon, managing director of Broadreach Capital Partners. “The Sunset will be re-developed into a visitor-friendly, exciting new space for both Angelenos and tourists alike to enjoy.”

In addition to H&M’s new retail space, The Sunset also houses H&M’s special VIP showroom where celebrities can browse unique pieces for premieres, photo shoots and special events. Crudo Bar & Ristorante, an exciting new venture from Antonio Alessi, owner of Hollywood hot spot Fred Segal Mauro Café, is also slated to open in the coming months and will serve “raw” takes on Italian dishes featuring seafood, beef and vegetables in addition to classic Italian fare. Alessi is also converting a portion of The Sunset into a cutting-edge art gallery and performance and event space. In the meantime, visitors to The Sunset can experience the city’s newest and best coffee bar and café - Caffe Primo (which features outdoor seating) where you can grab a panini or a authentic Italian Gelato. The Dolce Group’s Ketchup serves up a whimsical twist on classic American cuisine for lunch and dinner. Gourmet hamburgers, fresh fries and onion rings, in addition to fresh seafood, salads and steaks are offered with five different types of ketchups, homemade in the kitchen daily. Plush, white leather booths are highlighted by red tomato-like lights hanging from the ceiling, and floor to ceiling windows frame the second story view from the restaurant and lounge onto Sunset Boulevard.

Part of the repositioning of the The Sunset includes some re-configuring of second story retail space into prime Sunset Strip office space. Oliver Peoples, the luxury eyeglass designer, will relocate its Beverly Hills headquarters and design studio to this newly converted office space within The Sunset. The Sunset also features a newly expanded Equinox Fitness Club and Spa in addition to several fashion and beauty boutiques.

Broadreach Capital Partners will invest significantly in capital improvements to The Sunset’s courtyard and plaza areas that will create a café and street -like atmosphere. Other improvements will include parking upgrades and a new lighting and graphic package throughout, both designed by Beckson Associates and Selbert Perkins Design.
