November 3th, 2007 - For health care entities looking for information on http://www.document-shredding.org/hipaa/hipaa-compliance.php, there is a new source of easy to access information.

The web site http://www.document-shredding.org, a popular online resource for document destruction companies and related paper shredding services has added a thorough list of resources for HIPAA compliance.

"We wanted to include at least some information for employees of health care companies who might be browsing our site. An important part of HIPAA is how documents are handled (and destroyed). So we had an editor research the internet for HIPAA information and resources, and compile a list of some of the authority sites" says Glen Johnson, an editor at the site.

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act was passed by Congress in 1996. One of the main parts of this act sets standards and guidelines for the way personal information is handled in the healthcare industry.

"HIPAA is a huge topic that can't really be covered in one web site. Therefore, we did the next best thing and found some of the most useful resources and put hyperlinks to them in one convenient place on our site."

Currently there are over 75 links and descriptions to HIPAA related sites, and more will be added regularly as they are found.
