NEW YORK INTERNATIONAL INDEPENDENT FILM & VIDEO FESTIVAL HONORS CHYNA LAYNE AS BEST ACTRESS FOR HER POWERFUL PERFORMANCE IN SILENT CRIES OF A CHILD

On Friday, November 2, 2007, actress Chyna Layne is being honored at an exclusive red carpet awards ceremony as Best Actress in a Short Film by The 2007 New York International Independent Film & Video Festival (NYIIFVF) for her powerful performance in SILENT CRIES OF A CHILD. Held at The China Club located at 268 West 47th Street, New York, NY 10036 - this elegant affair will be covered by invited press and media to capture this unforgettable evening.

SILENT CRIES OF A CHILD is a moving story about a young mother named Mercedes, struggling to raise two children alone. One day, leaving the supermarket, she meets the man of her dreams. Smitten by his affection and the father-figure he has become to her children, he is her knight in shining armor. However, he soon reveals that he is not the hero she thought… Inspired by the loss of Nixmary Brown, SILENT CRIES OF A CHILD was written by Lisa V. Stokes and directed by Iris Goodwin. SILENT CRIES OF A CHILD joins the awareness and urgency in the battle against child abuse. "I am extremely honored and humbled by this award. It is extremely meaningful because it is an acknowledgement of a worldwide epidemic that we, as people, are constantly fighting everyday to eliminate – child abuse ," says Chyna Layne.

NYIIFVF is dedicated to celebrating the best talent in independent filmmaking, emerging directors, producers, actors, cinematographers and screenwriters. Held only twice a year in Manhattan, Friday's NYIIFVF awards red carpet ceremony will honor recipients from its highly successful Summer/Fall film extravaganza from July in New York and September in Los Angeles. In addition to a live awards presentation, this special evening will also include trailers of the winning entries, live performances, a sponsored bar including wine and light hors d'oeuvres. Red carpet arrivals begin at 7pm sharp and hosts include Amber Gristak (Maid in Manhattan) and actor Russ Russo.
