Opentrust continues European Expansion with Move into UK

November 02, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Technology News
London, – OpenTrust, a leader in trust infrastructures for strong authentication and secure electronic transactions, has today announced its launch into the UK. Through a preferred partnership with Trustis, the UK’s leading independent authority on PKI (public key infrastructure), OpenTrust will target large multi-national enterprises, offering them cost-effective, easy to deploy and feature-rich authentication and data security solutions. OpenTrust UK will be headed up by ex-Entrust Sales Director David Terry and will be based in Reading.

OpenTrust specialises in helping organisations to protect the integrity and confidentiality of all data and online transactions via digital certification, smart card management, digital signature and online encryption. Uniquely, all products are based on an open, modular platform, which makes the architecture simple and the products easy to deploy. This will enable OpenTrust to offer a flexible solution that can be run by the client or supplied as “software as a service”.

“Authentication and encryption security such as PKI has been around for many years but has not been embraced by UK organisations as it was seen as cost prohibitive and complex to deploy,” explained David Terry, Managing Director, OpenTrust UK. “But the tide is changing. Successful government and corporate deployments, as well as the increased awareness of security threats have lead to a growing acceptance of PKI and smart card solutions. By working with Trustis and using their expertise and industry knowledge, we can take advantage of this and at the same guard enterprises against fraud, information mismanagement and identity theft.”
Trustis is a vendor agnostic security consultancy that specialises in designing, deploying and building PKI solutions. To become part of Trustis’ portfolio of PKI vendors, OpenTrust’s products were rigorously tested and evaluated to ensure product integrity and suitability. All OpenTrust products are available from Trustis immediately.

“On average only one in ten products pass our evaluations successfully; OpenTrust’s products passed with flying colours as they offer rich functionality without the large price tag, risk and difficult implementation associated with traditional PKI deployments.,” explained Chris Swinbank, Managing Director, Trustis. “The OpenTrust products present a fantastic opportunity for Trustis as for the first time we can offer customers a choice; they can have our managed solution or they can simply buy the OpenTrust in the UK from us.”

The move into the UK forms part of OpenTrust’s international expansion strategy that was announced in July this year. Since then, the company has changed its name from IDEALX, opened up an office in Brussels and joined the European Software Association.
David Terry will be integral to the success of OpenTrust in the UK. He has more than 25 years of IT sales and support experience. Most recently, David was Sales Director at security vendor Entrust, where he was responsible for UK sales and the introduction of PKI technology into some of the UK’s largest government initiatives.
