2nd Annual Katie Froeschle Memorial Golf Tournament Sponsored by Bush Ross, Raises Fifty Thousand Dollars Plus

Tampa, FL, November 1, 2007 – Katie Froeschle was a rare soul. Her friends and family remember Katie for different things – her love of the beach, her hearty laughter, and her dream of becoming a veterinarian. She held two degrees from Florida State University, and rarely missed watching the Seminoles play.

Katie’s senseless murder in November 2004 turned the lives of her family and friends upside down. As they struggled with their grief, they realized that other families suffering traumatic losses need support and care to get through those troubling times. So that other families would not have to suffer similarly, they created the Katie Froeschle Foundation. The foundation is a not-for-profit organization raising funds for scholarships for FSU students. It also supports The Life Center, an advocacy organization for families who suffer traumatic loss.

On September 14, 2007, the organization held its second Katie Froeschle Memorial Golf Tournament at the Crescent Oaks Country Club in honor of Katie’s memory, and to benefit these organizations.

Katie’s father, Jeff Froeschle said, “When we remember Katie, we remember her smile, her laughter and the way she cared deeply for her family and friends.” Jeff serves on the foundation’s board of directors. He went on to say, “We designed this day as a way for all those who loved Katie to come together and enjoy each other while working for a good cause. It’s the best way to honor her memory. To love each other and commit ourselves to the happiness of others in the same way that she did.”

Jeff Froeschle is a shareholder at the law firm Bush Ross. The firm is a sponsor of the golf tournament.

The golf tournament started at 1 p.m. followed by a silent auction at 6 p.m. at the country club. The tournament sold out in 2007. All funds raised by the Foundation go to support the Katrina Anne “Katie” Froeschle Memorial Scholarship Fund and The Life Center. Those interested in being sponsors of the next tournament, donating goods to the auction or funds to the Foundation should visit the Foundation’s website.
