Burned Veteran’s Rally Around the Statue of Liberty

On Sunday, November 11th at noon, over one thousand participants and spectators are expected to show their support for the 51 burn survivors and supporters who will be crossing the waters of the New York Harbor on Hydrobikes. The Hydrobike is a peddle powered watercraft capable of traveling at speeds up to 10 miles per hour.

The rally on shore will take place at the Liberty State Park Flag Plaza, in Jersey City, as the New York skyline creates a dramatic backdrop to the riders as they pass Ellis Island and circumnavigate Lady Liberty. BAN will be providing refreshments to all attendees, and a commemorative gift to Iraq/Afghan War veterans at the event.

Numerous politicians and celebrities are expected to attend, showing their support for the brave men and women who made the most painful personal sacrifices in support of our country, and for children who have survived catastrophic burns/injuries.

By raising awareness about the plight of these brave children and wounded veterans with this rally and others to follow, BAN hopes to increase funding that is desperately needed for programs offering support and rehabilitation. “Making the fair treatment of wounded combat veterans must become a national priority and a part of every primary candidate’s national platform” according to Samuel L. Davis, founder of BAN.

BAN, is a not for profit 501(c)(3) (pending) organization, and was created to advocate on behalf of pediatric, and Iraq and Afghan War veteran burn survivors.
