Washington, DC - Internationally recognized psychologist Dr. Eileen R. Borris and author of Finding Forgiveness: A 7-Step Program for Letting Go of Anger and Bitterness will be recognized at the National Press Club Annual Book Fair in Washington, D.C. on November 1, 2007. “This is one of the most prestigious literary events which attracts authors from across the nation,” says Lisa Miller, National Press Club Book Fair Coordinator. Finding Forgiveness, also a finalist for the prestigious “Books for a Better Life Award,” is published by McGraw-Hill.

The book focuses on the profound impact of forgiveness on multiple levels ranging from individual’s personal lives to the resolution of long standing international conflicts. “Just as all politics is local, all forgiveness is personal. If we want to resolve complex international conflicts which appear to be intractable, we can do so if we look at how conflict and war has impacted those individuals and help them find the path to forgiveness. This is the only way to lasting peace,” says Borris. Borris also notes that whether she is helping couples work through relationship difficulties in her private practice or working with political leaders in countries such as Pakistan, India, Nepal, Israel, Palestine, Indonesia, and the Republic of Georgia, the pattern is the same.

Dr. Eileen R. Borris is a licensed psychologist in private practice in Paradise Valley, Arizona focusing on relationship difficulties and forgiveness. She serves as the Director of Training for the Institute for Multi-Track Diplomacy in Washington DC, where she designs and implements training programs in international conflict resolution, incorporating processes of forgiveness within the broader context of international peace building. Dr. Borris has worked for the United States Agency for International Development and United Nations Development Fund for Women. She has presented her work in
forgiveness and reconciliation at many national and international conferences including the United Nations. Dr. Borris teaches “Forgiveness and Reconciliation in Post Conflict Environments” at the School of International Service at American University, and lectures at the National Defense University and at the Institute for Conflict Analysis and Resolution at George Mason University on these same subjects. She speaks nationally and internationally on the topic of forgiveness from the personal to its impact on International Affairs. In addition to authoring the book, Dr. Borris conducts “Finding Forgiveness” workshops, in which people learn how to work through their anger, guilt and pain in order to let go of their emotional difficulties, enabling them to make better decisions from a place of understanding and wisdom rather than emotional reactiveness. Finding Forgiveness: A 7-Step Program for Letting Go of Anger and Bitterness has been published in seven countries.
