November 04, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
RALEIGH, N.C. – Jeff Davis, president of JDavis Architects, PLLC, a full-service architecture, landscape architecture and interior design firm, has announced that K. Daryl Carrington, Ph.D., AIA, director of sustainable design for the firm’s Philadelphia studio, has received Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). The LEED Green Building System is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings. LEED promotes a whole-building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in five key areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality.

Carrington, who oversees the implementation of sustainable design strategies on a firm-wide basis as well as manages the firm’s Philadelphia studio, has over 25 years experience as an architect. He earned a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, a master’s degree in architecture from Yale University and a Ph.D. in design from N.C. State University. He has taught sustainable design architecture at Temple University and is a member of the Delaware Valley Green Building Council. A native of Warrensburg, N.Y., he resides in Wyncote, Pa., with his wife, Mary Myers, and two sons, Jasper and Ian.
