5A Texas high school football has not only dominated regional rankings, but has owned national titles from schools such as Southlake Carroll High and Euless Trinity High. The states most highly regarded District 8-5A consists of the powerful Arlington, Texas schools, 2006 State Champion Cedar Hill, State Semi-finalist DeSoto and Arlington Lamar high schools, along with past State Champion Duncanville. With a district so stout in football tradition, there is still room at the top for this year’s new comers to area and state rankings, Arlington Bowie High and Arlington Martin High.

The Volunteers of Bowie are ranked #3 in the Dallas / Ft. Worth area, while the Warriors of Martin are ranked #7 (dallasnews.com). These two undefeated teams met up on Thursday, October 25th for a live broadcast on TXA-TV Channel 21 and on www.pennyentertainment.com. The Vols came out victors and expanded their record to 8-0, while the Warriors moved to 7-1. Both teams continue to generate state-wide attention with their mixture of power & speed.

Arlington ISD football teams continue to shake things up in District 8-5A, when the Colts of Arlington upset the highly regarded Eagles of DeSoto. District leader, Bowie has the opportunity to go undefeated before the play-offs start for the 1st time in their history, while legendary Coach Eddie Peach of Lamar has his team in position for a play-off berth if they continue to win. Lamar’s win totals adds to Coach Peach legacy as the winningness 5A football coach in Texas high school football history.
