The journey has begun for Dallas / Ft. Worth (DFW) area teams to continue their state-wide dominance of High School Volleyball in the state of Texas. The area’s top ranked school, Arlington High, swept through Bi-District and Area rounds by defeating Irving MacArthur and Flower Mound High Schools. Arlington ISD (AISD) placed three (3) powerful teams in the DFW Top 10: #1 Arlington Colts, #3 Martin Warriors and #7 Lamar Vikings. Martin High School dominated their 1st & 2nd round opponents, South Grand Prairie & Hebron High Schools, while the Vikings of Lamar High School fell to the #2 ranked Coppell Cowgirls in the 2nd round. Lamar High School started four (4) sophomores this season and is in position to be the areas #1 ranked team next year.

The Arlington Colts are led by Sarah Joeckel, Tobi Farrar and Tara Derden, while the Warriors of Martin High School are led by Chelsea Ringel, Bella Romero and Madison Hanlan. These two AISD Quarter-Finalist teams look to represent the DFW going into the Region I Finals at McMurry University in Abilene, Texas and in the State Tournament at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas.

North Texas volleyball teams coming out of Region I & II have won the 5A Volleyball Title, 3 out of last 5 years. The Martin Warriors are looking to make the same type of run they made during the 2005 State Tournament where they won it all. Meanwhile, the #1 ranked Arlington Colts seek to win their 1st State Title in school history and continue the dominance of Texas High School Volleyball from the North side of the state.
