Atlanta, GA—Count on the Farm, the colorful, funky counting book that has delighted hundreds of Louisiana children, is now available nationally in time for Christmas giving. The hardcover book and its rollicking companion song encourages toddlers to count to ten and back again with catchy rhymes and vibrant artwork. Its layout promotes number recognition and word/number association, while the text urges them to “stomp their feet and flap their arms” through the course of the book and song.

“Song and repetition have been shown to enhance childrens’ learning, whatever the subject,” said Branden Lisi, the book’s author. “We believe combining repetition with fun, colorful illustrations and a bouncy song to sing is a recipe for learning success.” The book is available online at http://countonlearning.com where visitors also can download the professionally produced companion song for free.

Reviews of the book have been uniformly positive.

“A charming children’s book,” said Greg Langley, books editor for the Baton Rouge Advocate newspaper, in his review. “Margaret Lisi’s illustrations are so vibrantly colored they seem almost 3-D. All the animals in the book are perky and-happy looking, just waiting for a youngster to count them.”

However, Margaret Lisi is quick to point out that “Count on the Farm” isn’t just about fun and numbers.

“It’s about creating interest in a tremendously important profession that many folks just don’t relate to anymore,” she said.

The Lisis will donate a portion of the profits of “Count on the Farm” to Ag in the Classroom (AITC), a national program that promotes agricultural literacy in schoolchildren and educators.
“Agriculture has given the Lisi family so much,” Margaret Lisi said. “Just as we count on the farm and farmers every day, producers can count on us for support in return. That we get to do it through art and music just makes it even more fun.”
