Solix and gloPlug Announce First Plug-And-Play Compliant Database Archiving and Cloning Appliance

SUNNYVALE, Calif., and Oracle Open World, San Francisco, Calif., November 14, 2007 – Solix Technologies, a leading provider of Enterprise Data Management Solutions and gloPlug, a Network Appliance partner that integrates industry leading hardware and software solutions providing data intelligence, today announced the gloPlug Appliance, the industry’s first plug-and-play solution for cloning data from Oracle E-Business Suite. The gloPlug Appliance is embedded with modules from the Solix Enterprise Data Management Suite (Solix EDMS) for Oracle E-Business Suite with NetApp ReplicatorX and FlexClone software and NetApp Storage to deliver data management-in-a-box.

The cloning of databases for patch, development and testing purposes is a laborious and storage intensive task for database administrators that potentially expose confidential data to unauthorized sources. By incorporating Solix EDMS with NetApp ReplicatorX, FlexClone and NetApp storage on the pre-configured gloPlug Appliance, enterprise customers can quickly and easily clone production data, mask critical business, and reduce storage footprint.

NetApp FlexClone allows for the seamless, effective and blazing fast cloning of volumes, file-systems, etc. Furthermore, each FlexClone consumes no space initially and only needs to store new or modified blocks. This allows users to potentially create dozens of clones with only a small percentage of additional disk space.

Solix EDMS functionality leverages FlexClone to create fast, effective and easy to manage compliant database instances. These compliant clones mask out any sensitive, non-public or confidential data so that test and development environments do not necessarily have access to this data points. It does this while maintaining the relational integrity of the database.

The gloPlug Appliance provides database administrators with an effective compliant database cloning, archiving and audit solution in a simple-to-buy, pre-built product optimized for their test and development needs.
