Reliant Energy and Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children (TSRHC) kicked off the Compact With Texas Holiday Art Contest to help TSRHC patients and siblings enjoy the spirit of holiday celebration, learn about energy efficiency and submit a drawing for the chance to win holiday gift cards, courtesy of Reliant Energy. During the kickoff event, TSRHC patients and siblings began creating holiday-themed artwork to submit for the contest and spent some time with representatives from the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Stars Ice Girls. The contest ran from Oct. 30 to Nov. 9, and winning entries were selected on Nov. 12.

TSRHC patients and siblings entering the contest were required to integrate at least one energy-saving compact fluorescent light in their holiday artwork to highlight energy efficiency. The contest is organized around Reliant Energy’s Compact With Texas (http://www.reliant.com/compactwithtexas), which urges Texans to switch from standard incandescent bulbs to more energy-efficient compact fluorescent lights.
