Westec InterActive Acquires Digital Witness

November 26, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
Westec InterActive, Inc., the largest remote video monitoring company in the U.S., announced today that they have acquired Digital Witness LLC, a privately held company headquartered in Dallas, TX.

Digital Witness provides video monitoring solutions and services via a subscription-based model to small and medium-sized businesses in major metropolitan areas across the U.S.

"Digital Witness combined with Westec strengthens our leadership position in the remote video monitoring marketplace," said Gerald Vento, Westec’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "IP network video monitoring is growing five times faster than the security industry as a whole and Westec is leading the migration to valued-added interactive video monitoring services away from single purpose burglar alarm monitoring."

"Because of the rapid growth in video-based alarm monitoring, Westec’s core business has more than doubled in the last few years and we have achieved chain-wide acceptance among many of our blue chip customers. This acquisition increases our concentration in major cities and will enable us to offer better service to our customers. And, at the beginning and end of every day, our focus is customer service," added Vento.

Digital Witness has fast become a leader in video surveillance systems by serving business owners and operators in the restaurant, hospitality and specialty retail verticals. The Digital Witness platform provides business owners and managers with an affordable and efficient system to view live and recorded video. Using the Digital Witness system to monitor sales, employees and customers either on-site or remotely via the Internet has changed the way many restaurants do business by improving employee accountability and increasing profits. The Digital Witness system also includes advanced, customized, yet easy-to-use report.

Restaurant chains across the country have subscribed to the Digital Witness service. "Our growth is a result of our easy-to-use platform and our financial model that allows all levels of businesses to benefit through video surveillance," said Kelby Hagar, Digital Witness’ President and Chief Executive Officer.

“We remove the cost barrier for our customers by offering them no up front capital expenditures to get started. The Digital Witness system includes state-of-the-art equipment and software, turn-key professional installation and on-going customer service – all at a low monthly subscription price of around $10 a day," said Hagar. "As a result of this new relationship, Digital Witness will now be able to offer an advanced suite of monitoring services to our existing and future customers that we were not previously able to offer."

"Westec and Digital Witness share a common vision, to offer the very best in remote video monitoring solutions to a growing marketplace. With this acquisition, we are ushering in a new era of remote video monitoring and video verification that will change the way the traditional burglar alarm business operates today," added Vento.
