Business Networking Group

Sharon Romank is one of the owners of Affordable Storage Centre in Penticton (www.affordable.ca). Sharon is pleased to give back to the community as a co chair for a new business networking group in Penticton BC called “Opportunity Knocks”.

In a nutshell, at Opportunity Knocks, small business owners meet and discuss the trials and tribulations inherent to starting a new business. These Penticton Business owners learn from each other and help each other succeed.

The Opportunity Knocks program is a team of business owners and managers who meet monthly to discuss issues that face their business. Jim established Opportunity Knocks in Bend, Oregon in 1996 with 72 business owners and/or managers filling its original 6 teams. Today OK includes 23 teams in Central Oregon. Additionally, Opportunity Knock's first non-Oregon chapter opened its doors in 2004 in Penticton, British Columbia. Each team includes approximately 14 members and 2 facilitators who meet monthly with the sole purpose of solving one another’s business problems. The teams run the gamut of businesses - from retail to service to manufacturing to home office.

Opportunity knocks is sponsored by the Community Development Corporation. Opportunity Knocks is the brain child of Jim Schell, an American businessman.

Jim Schell, co author of Small Business for Dummies was in Penticton for Small Business Week. Jim gave a keynote presentation on “Taking Your Business’s Pulse” to a small group of businesses in the local Opportunity Knocks program.
