Registration Now Available for the SMPTE and VSF 2008 Joint Conference

November 30, 2007—(White Plains, NY)—The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) and the Video Services Forum (VSF) are pleased to announce today that registration is now open for the SMPTE and VSF 2008 Joint Conference.

The Conference is set for Sunday through Wednesday, Feb. 10–13 at the Intercontinental Houston Hotel in Houston, TX.

The SMPTE and VSF Joint Conference is three days of informative technical sessions on the latest technologies, including digital content quality, acquisition and distribution, issues on IPTV, as well as hot topics such as streaming media and podcasting.

In addition to technical sessions, the joint conference also showcases some of the latest applications, technologies and products in its exhibit hall and includes a number of special networking events, providing attendees the opportunity to interact with colleagues and peers.
Under the guidance of the 2008 Program Subcommittee SMPTE Chair, David Lingenfelter, Director of Engineering, The Evers Group, and Bob Ruhl of VSF, the conference will explore the theme, “Distributing Digital Content in a Networked World,” by offering the following technical sessions:
· Content Distribution Challenges - Live vs. Streamed vs. Cached
· Compression for IPTV - Making the most of available bandwidth and business opportunities
· Infrastructure considerations for Next Generation Media
· Dealing with the many challenges of Broadcast Audio/Video Synchronization
· IP Video Content Aggregation Case Studies
· IPTV Implementation - Real World Experiences

The pre-registration deadline to receive the early bird rate of $550 is Friday, January 11, 2008. The housing room block expires Friday, January 25, 2008.
