Kafévend, the UK’s largest independent supplier of vending machines, is giving offices around the country the opportunity to participate in the vending machine Save-A-Cup scheme and turn used plastic cups into pencils.

With more than one billion cups collected so far, the recycling programme collects used vending machine cups and recycles them into more useful and reusable products. John Collins, managing director of Kafévend said: “The Save-A-Cup scheme is a great way to deal with the dozens of empty cups produced by staff using vending machines for their hot and cold drinks each day and is a great way to recycle. Companies taking this opportunity to join in demonstrate a strong commitment to environmental values and ethnical business practices.”

Collection of used cups is quick and easy with bins provided by the scheme. Placed next to the vending machine or in high traffic and restaurant areas for maximum catchment, collected cups are removed by the Save-A-Cup company and taken to local recycling plants.

Formed by the vending, food service and plastic industries, Save-A-Cup recycling aims to bring the number of cups collected in line with government targets for recycling packaging waste.

The recycling scheme can be used in conjunction with any Klix in-cup vending machine from Kafévend.
