New Figures Shows London Grabbing Greater Share of UK Home Moves

December 03, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
London saw its share of UK home moves more than double in October 2007, compared to the previous 12-month average. The figures based on actual home moves are released by the selectabase marketing service, and indicate that the UK property market has refocused around the nation’s capital.

The proportional increase in home moves was at the expense of many postcode areas in the Midlands and North, including Birmingham, Manchester Sheffield and Nottingham.

In October 2007 almost 20% of the UK’s home moves took place in London postcode areas. But over the twelve months prior to October, less than 10% of home moves were in London postcodes.

The six postcode areas with the most home moves were all London postcodes in October, followed mainly by postcode areas in the south

The UK’s top house moving area in October was the SW postcode of South West London, which saw its share of UK home moves increase by almost 50%.

The previous top postcode area of Birmingham saw a massive -336% drop in its share of UK home moves.
