The Zip HydroTap which was recently featured on Grand Designs, Saturday Kitchen and Property Ladder has now been launched on the Water Coolers Direct website. Fitting under the kitchen sink and suitable for both home or office based customers, the system is capable of dispensing either Chilled or Boiling Water, providing water that is hot enough for Coffee, Tea, Soups and other hot drinks.

Formed in March 2004 as a reaction to onerous water cooler rental contracts Water Coolers Direct offers UK businesses and homeowners the option of buying a water cooler outright. Water Coolers Direct has sold over 4,500 coolers to over 7,000 customers leading to the company becoming a market leader in just 3½ years. Working with the likes of 'Thames Valley Health Authority', 'Havana International Bank', 'Mowlem Technical Services' and 'Westminster School Library' the company also has over 1,000 valued home customers.

In 1975 Zip introduced the world to the very first instant boiling water heaters as we know them today. No more waiting for water to boil in your kettle or Urn. Touch the tap and out it poured — boiling water, a cupful or a pot full at a time. Millions of people world-wide now use a Zip daily for tea, coffee and cooking. Hospitals in Singapore, naval bases in the United Kingdom, universities in China, the Sydney Opera House and Number Ten Downing Street now have one thing in common - all enjoy the convenience of Zip instant boiling water in their kitchens.

Fred Cairns Palmer, Managing Director, WaterCoolersDirect.com Ltd said; "We have great hopes for the ZIP Hydro Tap the system is capable of dispensing 80 cups of boiling water and 100 glasses of chilled water per hour and is ideal for both home and office use." he goes on to comment that ". although the system is on the expensive side we calculate that the savings on bottled water purchasing and on the running of a kettle or Urn pay for the system within a year."

The Zip HydroTap is three times more efficient than an urn and much more efficient than a kettle in normal use. There are 2 choices of 'sleep mode' that can be set to power down the unit after 2 or 4 hours inactivity, you can also set the system to power up or down at predetermined times during the day. To avoid waste the tap will dispense water for no more than 15 seconds.

The Zip HydroTap removes the need for cumbersome kettles and urns or the associated clumsy and dangerous power cables, the system also avoids the need for annual portable appliance testing. Cool to the touch the tap is fitted with a child proof safety lock which requires an adult to operate. The base of the Zip HydroTap doubles as a safety tray equipped with a leak detector that closes down the unit to prevent water spillage; the system is also fitted with Boil dry protection.

"The key selling point of the ZIP Hydro Tap is that it can dispense Chilled & Boiling Water that can be adjusted to 98ºC." says Pete Glanville Operations Director of WaterCoolersDirect.com Ltd ".that's hot enough to make cups of coffee and can even make tea, something that many systems of this type are unable to achieve."

The innovative tap is designed for ease of use the operating lever has 2 non slip touch pads, showing red for boiling water and blue for chilled. The tap maybe installed at either the sink or in the middle of the work surface using the unique tap font which drains to waste.

Martin Booth the Sales Director of Water Coolers Direct said "We have added greater value to the ZIP HydroTap by packaging it with the BRITA AquaQuell water filter to combat any issues with scale that can effect water systems that heat water in this way." he goes on to add ".We are excited about the opportunity and can envisage expanding our range to feature more and more products that fit within the kitchen environment moving forward."
