DENVER, Colorado—December 13, 2007—Turnpoint Solutions LLC (Turnpoint) announced today that it has secured a contract to develop a multi-year strategic IT and systems roadmap and deliver related services to a leading US-based energy management provider in the demand response and energy efficiency marketplace.

The United States Department of Energy defines demand response as, “Changes in electric usage by end-use customers from their normal consumption patterns in response to changes in the price of electricity over time or to incentive payments designed to induce lower electricity use at times of high wholesale market prices or when system reliability is jeopardized.”

The market for demand response and energy efficiency solutions for utility companies has grown significantly in the past year as system operators considered and implemented policies that treated demand response resources as dispatchable ancillary services equivalent to generation resources.

Under terms of the services agreement, Turnpoint will review, develop, and assist in the implementation of IT and systems strategy to address solutions including customer call center applications, infrastructure communications, field work management, marketing, sales, and back office applications.

“We’re excited about the opportunity to partner in support of our new energy services provider client to deliver strategic services designed to help them align their people, processes, and systems for continued rapid market growth,” remarked Rick Higdon, CEO Turnpoint Solutions.

In a 2006 report to Congress, The United States Department of Energy noted, “States should consider aggressive implementation of price-based demand response for retail customers as a high priority, as suggested by EPACT. Flat, average-cost retail rates that do not reflect the actual costs to supply power lead to inefficient capital investment in new generation, transmission and distribution infrastructure and higher electric bills for customers.”

Higdon concluded, “In 2007 Turnpoint grew the global energy consulting and IT systems integration business in its core mining and utility markets. With the addition of this new energy management customer, Turnpoint has expanded into the rapidly evolving market of energy efficiency and demand response. We expect to build on these energy demand side services programs during 2008.”
