Description:

Playlist launched August 7 to eager music lovers, who wanted to share diverse sounds in a public place. A hugely-varied selection of sounds pleased the crowd, who partied till late. The next Playlist is on September 4, and the plan remains the same.

Welcome to Playlist. It's your party on September 4 at Nambucca, 596 Holloway Road. Admission is free. Prizes are sponsored by Everything iPod, who are offering the best DJ's on the night one of: four Creative Labs TravelSounds speaker systems, 18 hard-wearing Contour Showcase iPod holder and a fantastic top prize - a set of professional audio quality Shure E3c in-ear headphones. That's 23 prizes in all.

Playlist is a growing community of switched-on tech-savvy music fans with broad tastes, excited at the great reawakening of interest in music that promises to transform the music business. Whatever music you want to play, just bring it. Playlist is about sharing the excitement and energy of musical diversity in a digital age.

Playlist invites music lovers to turn up, sign up and play DJ for 15 minutes. All you need do is register and then get to play your songs in an environment one visitor to the launch night called: "A cross between fairyland and Phoenix nights". The best DJs in the opinion of the volunteer judges will win prizes. Judges sign-up and are rotated during the night, and if you just want to party, come along - this is a club for music fans who want to break the barriers. Musical diversity in the digital age

It's not just about iPods though - you can play songs using other music players, judge the songs the DJs bring, or just have a good time.

Playlist stars of the night - people really got the spirit of the event and made it what it was included:

DJ Ant and his two friends, who did the greatest formation break/beat dancing. DJ Ant played all his own dance tunes and they went down a storm.

DJ George for being the first DJ of the night with a sublime mix of Chemical Brothers and the Mouldy Peaches.

DJ D.A.B, who told us he'd come all the way from Norfolk to pack the dance floor with the theme from 'Minder'!

DJ Old Git for starting with 'The Revolution will not be Televised' and moving through diverse moods from De La Soul (which got the bouncers going!) to arrive at T Rex.

Many DJs played their own material, to an enthusiastic response from open-minded music fans, eager for new sounds.

Launch night sponsors Belkin said: "It was a brilliant night, we really enjoyed ourselves."

Word is spreading in London and beyond - as far as Australia and LA. But what is Playlist? Briefly, Playlist is an eternal experiment to build an audience-led top night out. No one knows what will happen on the night - except digital diversity and music.

The club Web site has been updated. You'll find previous Playlist playlists, image galleries and short video clips taken on the launch night. High-res images and some movie footage are available on request.
