Global learning provider, Tata Interactive Systems (TIS), received the Readers’ Digest Pegasus CSR Gold Award, in the category ‘Contribution to Society – Imparting Education’, at a presentation ceremony held at the Taj Land’s End Hotel, in Mumbai, on 12th December.

The Pegasus CSR Awards have been instituted to recognise outstanding work done by socially conscious companies. The awards identify best practices and innovations by Indian companies in fulfilling their responsibilities to diverse stakeholders.

In this way, Readers’ Digest, the nation’s largest selling English language magazine also aims to make companies aware of their role as good citizens – and role models - of a fast-developing nation.

Sanjaya Sharma, CEO of TIS said: “This award is a testimonial to our continuing commitment to improve the quality of education and make learning accessible to students with learning difficulties (LD). It was awarded for our various CSR initiatives, taking into consideration our partnerships, approach, deployment, voluntary activities and results.”

Some of TIS’s multi-pronged initiatives to spread awareness of LD and promote remediation include the highly successful annual Tata Interactive Learning Disability Forum (TLDF); a long-standing partnership with the LD clinic at Sion Hospital, in Mumbai; proposals for changes in the medical and teacher training curricula, and the development of a book, ‘Brain Teasers’ for students with LD and their parents, among others.
