Industrial Strength Underwear No Joke To Determine Online Entrepreneur

July 18, 2005 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
We are living in an era when anything worn can be labeled trendy or fashionable. Mark Wahlberg brought this to our attention in the early 1990's when he modeled underwear for Calvin Klein.

So why would anyone try to bring a design from the past, a style most think as what their dad or grandpa may have wore back in the 1960's? "Many reasons“, says David Anderson, owner of Tiger Apparel which sell exclusive BVD double-seat briefs. He points out that for some, the idea of retro apparel of any kind is a fashion statement and is very appealing to a younger generation. So are the many baby-boomers that remember a time when they wore this style of brief, and are delighted when they can relive some part of their childhood past. Finally they’re those that simply want underwear that will provide long wear and comfort that only a full cut double-seat briefs can provide.

Tiger Apparel went online in July, 2004 with the owner realizing he had a "one-of-a-kind" product to market. "I knew I could sell this style of underwear because the demand on EBay brought bids well over $100's per brief", stated David. His concern was designing a site that could be found on the world wide web by well known search engines. "Many of my customers could find the site just by searching for “double-seat briefs". The trick really was having them find your site on a search engine's first page with more simpler phrase like "men’s underwear" or "men’s briefs"“.

Good fortune or good luck went his way with MSN earning Tiger Apparel a top 5 position this last spring. David explains that this is simply amazing to him given the competition in the underwear industry and that there are some 3 million other websites battling for a top listing. He figures it might just come down to just well thought out design that has made Tiger Apparel site such a hit, since the site offer more than just selling men’s and boys double-seat briefs. There are pages of old Sears, Wards and JCP catalog pictures from the 1960's and early 70's as well. His goal was to make the site interesting and informative and includes a contest each month that gives a free pair of brief’s for just for signing the guest-book as well as classic video games that can be played at no cost.

Of course having a popular site and being ranked by Alexa as one of the top 1% most visited website on the internet today does not pay the bills at the end of each month. "We are still a very young business, and are dealing with the growing pains associated with that. We are always looking for distributors and manufactures to help facilitate the production of our on own private label brief. Lower wholesale cost benefits us as well as our customer", a fact that David notes is always easier said than done.
