ImprovJacksonville Packs Laughter for Lunch

July 27, 2005 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
ImprovJacksonville Comedy Theatre, home of Jacksonville’s only professional improvisational comedy troupe, is beginning a new two-part Laugh & Learn Lunch series on Wednesday, August 17 beginning at 11:30 a.m. The topic of the series is “Improvising in Business.” The second Laugh & Learn Lunch in the series will be on Wednesday, September 7, 2005.

Do business people improvise? According to John Bryan, Director of Sales for ImprovJacksonville, “we improvise every day in contacts with customers, employees, associates and family members. We are forced to create new business solutions and communicate them well. Senior managers are often very proud of how well they improvise. Unfortunately, nobody ever taught us how to improvise in business.”

Fortunately, improvisational theater has been teaching improvising skills for over 75 years. These skills include creativity, communication, building trust, resolving conflicts, and thinking fast on your feet, among others. If you need to develop these skills, then start with a Laugh & Learn Lunch.

Each Laugh & Learn Lunch includes lunch and networking, followed by a fast-paced, one hour workshop in which participants get a brief presentation, some highly entertaining learning exercises used in improvisational theater, and focused discussion to help apply learning to individual business needs.

Admission is $15 per person. Seating is limited, so please make your reservation as soon as possible to avoid missing these fun and educational events. For reservations visit www.improvjacksonville.com. Call John Bryan at (904) 247-4707 for more information. The ImprovJacksonville Comedy Theater is located at 140 West Monroe Street on Hemming Plaza.

Join ImprovJacksonville for noontime stress relief with a good lunch, some very practical learning and lots of great laughter!
