Minneapolis, Minn., - February 25, 2008 – Despatch Industries announces the sale of two drop bottom solution heat treat furnaces to the Goodrich Corporation’s Aerostructures business unit. The furnaces will be used to solution heat treat aluminum components that Goodrich supplies to the commercial aircraft industry. Goodrich has purchased several Despatch solution heat treat furnaces in the past and requires the additional units to accommodate an increase in heat treating capacity at their new Mexicali, Mexico facility.

“Goodrich has been a customer of Despatch for many years,” says Gene Vetter, Senior Applications Engineer. “They have purchased several of our solution heat treat furnaces and continue to do so because of our extensive experience with aerospace aluminum solution heat treating.”

The furnaces that Goodrich has purchased feature indirect gas heating systems with work chambers measuring 9’W by 11’L by 8’H. Each furnace is provided with a mobile load car, glycol quench tank and water rinse tank.

The furnaces utilize a quench management and glycol recovery system. The quench management system allows the operator to easily adjust the glycol concentration level in the quench tank. The glycol recovery system separates the glycol and water from either tank, storing them for reuse. An additional feature is a biocide injection system which prevents the growth of bacteria.

“We are pleased that Goodrich continues to rely on Despatch equipment for their solution heat treating needs,” says Ernesto Serrano, Aerospace Sales Manager. “They are a major provider of components to the commercial aircraft industry and we are committed to partnering with them.”
